Hello, this is my first Shonen Hero proposal, and the first candidate I choose is Alastor from Hazbin Hotel. Since I've done 2 Shonen Villain proposals already, I'm getting the hang of these archetype wikis and I think I'm ready to propose a SH. Anyways, here we go!
What's the Work?[]
Hazbin Hotel is a 2024 adult animated Amazon Prime series created and produced by VivziePop. The show focuses on the Princess of Hell, Charlie Morningstar, and her mission to redeem sinners and get them sent to Heaven when they die with the help of her girlfriend Vaggie, her father Lucifer, and her friends Angel Dust, Husk, Niffty, Sir Pentious, Cherri Bomb...and today's candidate, Al.
The first season revolves around her trying to stop all life in Hell from being wiped out by Adam and the Exorcists, who lead annual genocides on sinners known as the Exterminations, and she tries to prove to Adam and Lute that sinners can be redeemed.
Who is He?[]
Alastor the Radio Demon is one of the two tritagonists (along with Angel) of the show. He is a former serial killer in life who is the arch-rival of Vox and Lucifer and the most powerful Overlord in Hell. Even though he is mostly a rude and self-serving person who only cares about his happiness more than others, he is still not without his good traits and has even done a lot of heroic acts (with some of them being outright altruistic).
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
Here are the basic traits of the criteria that Alastor meets:
- Heroic/Honorable: He taught Charlie how to kill angels, helped her recruit an army of cannibals to defend the hotel, nearly sacrificed himself to defeat Adam while fighting him personally and saved a female sheep demon from being raped as revealed in a webcomic.
- Courageous/Reckless: He was brave enough to fight Adam to the point he almost died in the process.
- Energetic: He is a skilled fighter and is shown to have an excellent sense of humor regardless of how dark or twisted it may be, with him even providing some comedy throughout the first season.
- Stubborn: He only helps Charlie with her mission for his own amusement.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: His biggest goal is to free himself from his deal with a soon-to-be-known entity who currently owns his soul and "pull all the strings".
- Optimistic: He smiles a lot...and that's it.
- Determined: Even when he was almost killed by Adam, he regained his composure and returned to the hotel after his breakdown.
- Confident/Cocky: He is extremely arrogant and prideful of himself.
Here are some bonus traits embodied by Alastor:
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Even though he sees friendship as a weakness that can easily be disposed of, he still has faith in Charlie and even had Mimzy kicked out of the hotel upon learning she didn't agree with Charlie's goals.
- Oblivious to Love: He is asexual.
- Possesses Plot Armor: He survived the severe injuries he sustained during his battle with Adam since he's a major character.
- Spiky Hair/Pompadour/Unnatural Hairstyle: His hairstyle resembles red deer horns, making him super unique.
- Has Rivals/Mentors: He competes with Vox and Lucifer.
- Mischievous: He enjoys causing trouble to spite Vaggie (who absolutely fears and possibly hates him).
- Tragic Past: He is greatly distressed and uncomfortable over his soul being owned and possessed by an unknown entity, as revealed in his breakdown in the first season's finale.
- Is a Blood Knight: He has an awesome fight with Adam.
- Is a Challenge Seeker: He enjoys pushing the boundaries, especially when it comes to passing the admirable standards.
- Is a Delinquent: When he was alive, he was a serial killer who tortured countless overlords and broadcasted their screams on his radio show and he also enslaved Husk once the latter offered him his soul.
- Is an Underdog: He challenged Adam with a smile.
- Is a True Hero: Not only does he want to help Charlie redeem sinners and keep her hotel in good shape, but he came close to getting himself killed while playing his part in Adam's defeat.
- Is a Shotoclone: His fighting style is very...unique, to say the least.
