What's the Work?[]
Dragon Ball is a popular shonen anime/manga franchise, following the adventures of Goku being sent to Earth who stives become better fighter as a Saiyan. He enjoys fighting people and fights to protect Earth from many threats from Freiza to Cell to Majin Buu, and a series of characters are introduced in the whole franchise.
Who is He?[]
Mark Satan, also known as Mr. Satan or Hercule (depending on the versions), is a main character in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. An famous Tenkaichi Budokai champion and celebrity hero who is known as "the strongest man alive".
What Makes Him A Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: He used his popularity to convince audiences alike into giving "him" their power to help finish Goku's Spirit Bomb that Goku and Vegeta needed to defeat Future Kid Buu and save planet Earth, and he even honored Android 16's last request by throwing his head close enough to speak to Gohan, even when doing so put Mr. Satan at great personal risk (16 appeased to his ego a bit), this directly led to the world being saved via 16 giving Gohan a moment to face death with dignity. So in a way, Mr. Satan saved the world in the Cell Games.
- Courageous/Reckless: He was reckless enough to take on Cell (a supervillain who is much stronger than him) and was willing to fight him in a loudmouthed and pompous way, and did lie about taking credit as a martial artist who defeated Cell before he became more heroic over time. Although, while he does subvert his clueless/idiotic moments by becoming more smarter and wiser over time, yet he remains always overconfident and ready to do anything good for the world despite being secretly afraid of the enemies he encountered.
- Energetic: He is always shown to be highly exuberant, hot-blooded, jovial, often gives out cocky laughs to relish in his glory and status, and his public persona "The MIGHTY Mr. Satan!!!" has the mannerisms that resemble a hammy WWE wrestler (ex. Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage) who showboats their strength and masculinity with flamboyance and enthusiasm.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: He seeks to protect the earth from evil forces such as the Buus (ex. Kid Buu and Super Buu) despite his ambitions to be a celebrity.
- Hard-Working: He is a loving father of Videl and takes care of Buu on a daily basis.
- Optimistic: Even in his vulnerable moments, he doesn't seem to let anything get to him.
- Determined: He even went through the efforts of watching tapes of his last fights to prove that he is better than Goku.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: While he believed in his own strength and abilities (as well as not trusting Majin Buu initially when he was a villain), he started to open up with Majin Buu and cherished him as a friend after their first appearances, and he also started to put his faith in The Z-Fighters ever since he befriended them.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Even though he's just a normal human being without powers, he managed to somehow survive getting hurt by Cell slapping him so hard Satan flew into a mountain (and lived!), he also tried fighting Kid Buu and Trunks when they showed such strength that'd harm any normal person, and Satan manages to survive all the time with his good luck.
- Short-Tempered: While he has a good temper and is hardly angry (if at all), he sometimes shows impatience and anger, especially when he angrily told Goten to shut up when he was cheering for Trunks, angrily shouted at Majin Buu to wait before Satan goes to feed him, and the time when he was angry about Videl being dead.
- Mischievous: He has shown to enjoy taunting and mocking anyone, even villains such as Cell and all of the Buus.
- Has Rivals: Has considered Goku to be one of his rivals since Satan believes he uses cheap tricks to win and not his true strength and strategies.
- Is a Blood Knight: Is a wrestler and a martial artist, and he takes tons of pride in it with whomever he fights.
- Is a Primary-Color Champion: Originally had a maroon-red cloak with white baggy pants, in DBZ Super he also sports on a deep blue outfit with red cape and yellow pants.
- Is a Challenge Seeker: He outright went through the trouble of facing anyone and taking on anyone in battle and combat, villains and bullies alike such as Spopovich as Mr. Satan humiliated him with a strong kick off the stadium as a challenge as he delivers in honor of his daughter Videl.
- Is a Chick Magnet: Due to his status as a fearless wrestler and a champion, he has many fangirls, had many women who admire him, and managed to be even more successful with attracting women than Master Roshi ever has.
- Is an Underdog: Despite having such little chance of winning, he got respect from several people for his persistence as a fighter.
- Is a True Hero: Despite being opportunistic, cowardly, selfish and an egoist, he handed Goku a World Peace Prize and also one hundred million Zeni after doing a battle with Android 18 (who made a fair deal with her). Instead of using the money for himself, he immediately offered the money to Vegeta, and then to Goku (who Goten convinces him to accept). He also built Gohan and Videl a house to live in as well as fronting the bill for Gohan and Videl's marital home, and his acts of making Goku and Chi-Chi rich subsidizes Goku's ability to train (and, by extension, this allowed Goku to continue protecting Earth).
