What's The Work[]
The Fox and the Hound is the 24th full-length animated film produced by Walt Disney Pictures, based on the novel of the same name (1967) by Daniel Mannix. This is one of my favorite Disney films. It's strange that it was forgotten as the cartoon is very nice and I find it as one of the cutiest (at least among Disney works).
Who Are The Characters?[]
Tod and Copper are the main protagonistic duo here. Tod is a fox and Copper is, accordingly, a hound. They are good friends despite foxes and hounds being natural animals. I still wonder why nobody proposed them here for such a long time, so I'm taking this responsibility on myself.
Shonen Hero Traits (For Tod)[]
Basic Traits[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Saves Copper and Amos from being killed by a bear even despite Amos trying to kill him and Copper being vengeful to him.
- Courageous/Reckless: Is more than willing to fight a dangerous bear whom Copper failed to defeat moments ago even despite Copper no longer considers Tod as a friend.
- Energetic: Is shown to be quite energetic.
- Stubborn: Unlike Copper, Tod doesn't want to abandon their friendship until it becomes too late.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: To be Copper's friend.
- Optimistic: Is always shown happy, optimistic and good-mooded.
- Idealistic: He doesn't want to believe that Copper cannot be his friend even despite Copper himself constantly tries to give it Tod to understand.
- Determined: He refuses to give his friendship with Copper up even when Copper directly gives him to understand that he doesn't see him as a friend, but as an enemy.
- Unpredictable: At least Amos views him as such.
- Self-Sacrificing: Is more than ready to put his life in danger to save Copper from a bear even despite Copper now sees him as an enemy.
- Youthful: He begins his story as a kid and ends it as a young adult.
Bonus Traits[]
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Even when Copper sees him as enemy, Tod saves him.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Falls from a big height and survives (presumably unlike the bear).
- Tragic Past: His mother was killed and his friendship with Copper was put him in jeoopardy by Amos and later Copper himself.
- Forgiving: Forgives Copper for being hostile to him.
- Is a Chick/Dude Magnet: Towards Vixey.
- Is a True Hero: At least he currently is the only character in his story, who is Pure Good.
Shonen Hero Traits (for Copper)[]
Basic Traits[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Tries to save Amos from the bear and forgives Tod. Later he shields Tod when Amos is about to shoot him.
- Courageous/Reckless: Much like Tod, Copper is more than willing to fight a bear, who is much stronger.
- Energetic: Definitely has an energetic side and shows it during his huntings and during trying to save Amos.
- Stubborn: He refused to see how flimsy is his reason of trying to kill Tod until Tod saved him from the bear.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: To be with Tod. Also wants to get revenge on Tod for causing Chief's ingury.
- Hard-Working: As a hound.
- Optimistic: He definitely has an optimistic side and is almost always seen happy.
- Idealistic: He definitely was until Chief was hit by a train.
- Determined: He was more than willing to kill Tod until he realized that Tod saved him from a bear.
- Unpredictable: He temporarily is for Tod.
- Self-Sacrificing: He definitely acts as such when fights the bear and shields Tod.
- Resilient: Makes pease with Tod.
- Youthful: He begins his story as a kid and ends it as a young adult.
Bonus Traits[]
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: While he temporarily subverts his friendship with Tod, this doesn't last long.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Is saved by Tod.
- Short-Tempered: And how else can be called a character, who (in fact) betrays his best friend for such a petty reason?
- Has Rivals/Mentors: His mentor is Chief.
- Has an Idol: He views Chief as such.
- Forgiving: After all, he did make piece with Tod.
Verdict[]
These characters match almost every single basic trait. That' why I vote Yes.
