Grizzly Bear Standing
I am the bringer of justice, little bro!
~ Grizz to Panda in "Bear Cleanse".

What's The Work?[]

We Bear Bears is a TV series created by Cartoon Network. It focuses on three bear brothers named Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear as they try to fit in with the people of San Francisco.

Who Is He?[]

Grizzly "Grizz" Bear is the main protagonist of the series. He is the oldest of the three bear brothers and is their leader.

Shonen Hero Traits[]

  • Heroic/Honorable: Grizz has done many rather admirable deeds over the course of the series. Some heroic acts include saving his brothers from being run over by a train when they were cubs, returning the evil Jean Jacket to the dumpster, saving his brothers from the wolves, and saving all of Agent Trout's captured bears from the wildfire. Out of the three bears, he stands out the most and sets good examples for his brothers.
  • Courageous/Reckless: He is very brave and reckless, as sometimes he can immediately make choices without thinking ahead.
  • Energetic: He is shown to be outgoing, boisterous, energetic and outdoorsy, displaying this attitude a lot.
  • Stubborn: In "Viral Video" he insists that becoming internet famous is their best chance in a long time to make more friends even with Panda's objections, and he goes to speak with Nom Nom in his limo. In "Primal", he tried to make himself and his brothers live in the wild to try something new, but this resulted in Panda and Ice Bear going insane without any food to eat.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: In "Viral Video", he wants to become internet famous by making a video. In "Food Truck" he seeks to make a food truck after the food they tasted at a food truck was terrible. In We Bare Bears: The Movie, he seeks to become internet famous yet again by distributing his internet video to the world, and later strives to save all of Agent Trout's imprisoned bears from the wildfire.
  • Hard-Working: He is shown to make high efforts to achieve his goals.
  • Unintelligent: While he is usually intelligent, he sometimes makes foolish choices that can land him and his brothers in troublesome situations.
  • Optimistic: He is shown to have a rather outgoing and happy-go-lucky attitude.
  • Determined: In "Our Stuff," he tells his brothers that they would go through it together after they got in trouble. In We Bare Bears: The Movie, he refuses to give up after escaping confinement at the animal reserve center and confronts Agent Trout, telling him that nature adapts and he should adapt too. Later, he and his brothers work together to make a giant bear stack consisting of them three and all the other captured bears in order to escape the wildfire via reaching Officer Murphy's helicopter.
  • Confident/Cocky: He is occasionally arrogant, and thinks that he, and his brothers are typically the coolest, and the ones who are better than other people, but mostly himself.
  • Self-Sacrificing: When the evil Jean Jacket chose him, he dived into the dumpster in a successful attempt to get rid of the jacket and seemingly sacrificed himsefl, with Panda and Ice Bear thinking he was gone for good.
  • Resilient: Even though Grizz and his brothers sometimes get into difficult situations due to their antics, he never gives up on doing the right thing.

Bonus Traits[]

  • Believes in the Power of Friendship: He loves his brothers and likes making friends, enjoying attention and generally being very social and friendly, as meeting someone new means possibly making a new friend.
  • Has Rivals: He has rivals in the form of Nom Nom, who is a jerk, and Agent Trout, who is prejudiced and xenophobic towards bears.
  • Big Eater: He loves Ice Bear's food, to the point that he suggests that they start their own food truck.
  • Mischievous: He has some mischievous moments, such as when he and Panda were constantly scaring Ice Bear with cucumbers.
  • Rebellious: He can be an unintentional nuisance at times, to the point that the city has a "bear complaint file". The most notable part of this was when he and his brothers tried to distribute their internet video to the entire world but ended up causing a blackout in San Francisco.
  • Tragic Past: He doesn't know his biological parents, as at some point he was separated from them when he was a cub and has been parentless since a young age.
  • Forgiving: In "Anger Management", he is implied to forgive Nom Nom for the jerkish acts that he did during the first two seasons, stepping in to help the koala with his anger issues as a step to repairing their friendship.
  • Is a True Hero: Grizz is a true hero because he loves his brothers greatly and would take a bullet for them.
  • Is a Mascot with Attitude: He can be mischievous, fun-loving, optimistic, outgoing, etc. depending on the episode which makes him relatable to fun-loving young boys.
  • Street-Smart: In We Bare Bears: The Movie, he comes up with an idea with Panda and Ice Bear to form a giant bear stack in order to escape the wildfire and save the captured bears.
  • Is a Kid/Teen Hero: He has been a hero since he was a young cub.

Verdict[]

I'd say Easy Yes, but you decide.
