- Only the 1986 live-action version of Sun Wukong qualifies, as the original is overall an anti-hero/anti-villain with various versions and overall moral grayness.
- Sun Wukong (1986) is one of the two Journey to the West (not counting adaptions such as Dragon Ball) characters on this wiki, the other being Wu Cheng'en from the 2010 TV series Wu Cheng'en and Journey to the West.
- In fact, he is none other than the inspiration of Son Goku himself, which essentially makes him the overall greater inspiration of the entire Shonen Hero trope due to Goku being its main codifier.
