Sokka is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Toph Beifong) of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. He was voiced by Jack DeSena, who also voices MK from LEGO Monkie Kid and Callum from The Dragon Prince.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Sokka is one of the main players of putting to an end to the Hundred Year War.
- Courageous/Reckless: Despite his inability to bend Elements, Sokka is willing to protect others.
- Energetic: Sokka has many moments of being excitable.
- Stubborn: Sokka wants to join his father's army to be a warrior even though he is forbidden to do so.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Being born without the ability to bend elements, Sokka wants to find a way to be a warrior.
- Hard-Working: Sokka is rather diligent in his fighting techniques, strategies and inventory.
- Optimistic: Despite his failures, Sokka manages to find the positives in his life.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Despite being a non-bender, Sokka survives many perils throughout the series.
- Short-Tempered: Sokka can be irritable at times.
- Has a Mentor: Sokka is taught of the art of swordsmanship by Master Piandao.
- Big Eater: Sokka is consistently shown to have an enormous love for food.
- Mischievous: Sokka has his moments of pulling childish pranks.
- Tragic Past: Along with Katara, their mother Kya was killed in a Fire Nation raid when he was a little boy, and their father and all the men of the tribe left two years prior to the show's start. This trauma left Sokka with the feeling that he wasn't good enough as a warrior.
