Ryuko Matoi is the main protagonist in the Kill la Kill anime.
What Makes Her a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Ryuko foiled Ragyō Kiryūin's conspiracy and destroyed the Life Fibers for good, therefore saving the world.
- Courageous/Reckless: Ryuko is not afraid of taking challenges even if she would be hurt as a result.
- Energetic: Though Ryuko may not be as hyperactive as her friend Mako, she is extremely hotblooded.
- Stubborn: Ryuko is shown to be persistent and being hurt is not enough to make her give up.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Ryuko transfers to Honnōji Academy to search for the twin of her red Scissor Blade and the person who used the weapon to murder her father, Isshin Matoi.
- Determined: Ryuko is extremely determined and doesn't let anything stop her.
- Resilient: Despite facing her fair share of defeats, Ryuko is always able to rise up.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: When Ryuko is forced to wear Kamui Junketsu by Ragyō Kiryūin and becomes the mind-altered puppets. Thanks to her friends Mako Mankanshoku and Senketsu's effects, Ryuko returns to her former self and rips apart Junketsu.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Ryuko has returned from brainwashing from Junketsu, survived fatal damage such as being impaled thanks to Senketsu and Life Fibers.
- Unnatural Hair Color: Because of the fusion between Ryuko and Life Fibers, her blue-black hair has a single left-swept red highlight on her bangs.
- Is a Dude/Chick Magnet: She has been considered by many people around her in Tokyo, and oddly enough, she has even attracted a few ladies as well such as Mako and even Nui.
