Roy is one of the main protagonists of Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Roy joins Rising Volt Tacklers, a team, and has fought against members of Explorers, an antagonistic organization, in some occasions.
- Courageous/Reckless: When Roy meets Fuecoco, he starts to think about the possibility of leaving his home island and starts his adventure. He is courageous despite he is sometimes less skilled in battle than his opponents.
- Energetic: Roy is energetic, contrast to Liko. Roy has successfully encouraged Fuecoco he befriended by chanting loudly.
- Stubborn: Roy attempts to battle the Black Rayquaza in HZ033, despite he is discouraged to confront the Black Rayquaza since the Black Rayquaza is strong for him and his Pokémon at the time.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Roy pursues to become a Pokémon Trainer despite there is no Pokémon Trainers in his home island. Roy joins Rising Volt Tacklers partly because he wants to know more about the world.
- Hard-Working: Roy has been training his Pokémon in order to become a skilled Pokémon Trainer.
- Optimistic: Roy is optimistic. An example is that he is not dejected by losing to Liko in a sparring Pokémon battle, and he has maintains his positive attitude in becoming a Pokémon Trainer despite he has lost to Pokémon Trainers.
- Unnatural Hair Color: Though Roy's dark brown hair is not unnatural, Roy's hair is with magenta highlights.
