What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Rodney saved the outmoded robots of Robot City from being killed by Ratchet and Madam Gasket's Chop Shop Machines.
- Courageous/Reckless: Rodney is the first to stand up to Ratchet and Madam Gasket for their genocidal plan to destroy outmoded robots.
- Stubborn: Rodney wants to keep on fighting for what it is right despite others telling him not to do so.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Being an aspiring inventor, Rodney wants to present his ideas to Bigweld. He eventually becomes Bigweld's successor.
- Hard-Working: Rodney has been working his invention of Wonderbot ever since he was a little kid, only to have the work complete after he graduated from college.
- Optimistic: Despite his struggles and the obstacles standing in his way, Rodney refuses to let his life bring him down.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Rodney has not only make friends with a group of misfits called the Rusties, but he also gained allies of the outmoded robots he had repaired, who followed him in his revolution to defeat Ratchet and Madam Gasket. He even inspired Bigweld to regain his lost optimism and the courage to fight back.
- Oblivious to Love: While Piper's crush on him was obvious to him, he was unaware of Cappy's feelings for him until near the end of the film.
- Has an Idol: He wants to be an inventor just like Bigweld.
- Rebellious: Rodney is the first to rebel against Ratchet's idea of outmoded robots needing upgrades and plan to destroy them. He is also the one to lead the revolution to fight against Ratchet and Madam Gasket.
- Is a Primary-Color Champion: Rodney has blue metals and red ears.
