Reese Wilkerson is the deuteragonist of Malcolm in the Middle. He was portrayed by Justin Berfield.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Reese stops a burglar from robbing the house, which results in him being declared a hero by the police.
- Courageous/Reckless: Reese can be brave when needed and is frequently shown to be reckless.
- Energetic: Reese is rather hotblooded and adventurous.
- Stubborn: Reese goes along with his plans despite being warned by others about the consequences.
- Hard-Working: Despite not being as intelligent or academically gifted as Malcolm, Reese can be diligent when he wants to be.
- Unintelligent: While he is gifted in culinary and a clever prankster, Reese is very book-dumb, incredibly impulsive and generally lacks so much common sense.
- Optimistic: Unlike Malcolm, who is pessimistic, Reese finds the positives of life despite his failures.
- Idealistic: After his experience in a protest involving a sexist billboard, Reese develops the belief that women are equal to men and wants to fight for the things that they want.
- Determined: Reese demonstrates his refusal to give up on several occasions, such refusing to stop driving commanded by the police until he finishes the driving test.
- Confident/Cocky: Reese has high faith in himself when he wants to do something crazy, and while he is nowhere near as egotistical as Malcolm, Reese can be cocky and underestimates his enemies at times.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Reese manages to survive plenty of situations that most can't endure.
- Oblivious to Love: Reese is slow when it comes to recognizing girls being attracted to him.
- Short-Tempered: Reese is the most aggressive and violent of the family.
- Big Eater: Being a teenager, Reese is shown to have an enormous appetite.
- Spiky Hair: Reese is consistently shown to have spiky frosted tips throughout the show.
- Unnatural Hair Color: Brown with yellow dyed spikes.
- Mischievous: Reese takes pleasure in pulling pranks and generally stirring up trouble.
- Rebellious: Reese frequently disobeys his parents' rules.
- Is a Blood Knight: As a school bully, Reese finds joy in fighting enemies and beating up weaker kids.
- Is a Challenge Seeker: Reese enjoys doing stupid things to see how far he can do it.
- Is a Delinquent: Reese is the family delinquent, committing petty crimes to the point of surpassing his older brother Francis.
- Is an Underdog: Reese is very book-dumb, has no friends, isn't popular with girls and not even his parents have much respect for him or high hopes for his future, all due to his thuggish lifestyle, but he is talented at cooking and can be determined and resourceful when he wants to be.
- Is a Mascot with Attitude: Reese is a rebellious, mischievous, hot-blooded and spiky-haired delinquent who enjoys pulling pranks, listening to rock music and fighting with his brothers and sometimes other people.
- Street-Smart: Despite his impulsive and destructive tendencies, Reese often comes up with creative (though sometimes mischievous) ways to get what he wants, whether it's pranking his brothers or finding ways to avoid chores.
