Popo is the main protagonist of the Ice Climber franchise. He is a cute chibi mountaineer who likes to scale mountains, explore, make friends and dwell in pure leadership. Reflecting his career, Popo is entertained in scaling several enormous and glacial mountaintops to recollect various vegetables stolen from a veggie-stealing condor. Outside of that, Popo typically likes playing with Nana, and has saved the universe from Tabuu's domination, and from Galeem and Dharkon's domination.
What Makes Him A Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Popo has recollected multiple stolen vegetables for his village and have confronted the condor, who is responsible for it. Additionally, Popo has saved the world from domination, twice, from Tabuu's domination, and from Galeem and Dharkon's domination, which is even surprisingly admirable considering that he is a little kid.
- Courageous: Popo will do anything to save the world from evil and benefit his home village, even if it means facing off against the deadliest of villains (like Polar Bears, the Subspace Army, Galleom, the Duon, Dracula, Ganon the Demon King, Giga Bowser, Tabuu, Galeem and Dharkon, etc) or having to accomplish the most risky of missions, such as scaling enormous and dangerous mountaintops with very narrow platforming to recollect vegetables from the condor.
- Energetic: Popo has pure energy, demonstrated with him climbing mountaintops without fear of endangerment and exploration, and jumps for joy whenever he successfully conquers a mountain.
- Optimistic: Popo is typically shown to be a cheerful kid who is always happy to help other people if required. Even during the most dangerous moments, Popo still attempts to find a way out of it.
- Is a Primary-Colored Champion: Popo is best known for the coloration of his parka, with Popo's blue parka indicating that he is the leader of the Ice Climbers.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Popo has survived high falls thanks to his ice cleats offering him soft landings, demonstrated in the Subspace Emissary where he and Nana fall into the canyon.
- Determined: Popo is determined to help other people or stop any evil force that endangers the world or his village at the very least.
- Resilient: Regardless of his severe failures, Popo continues to get up and try again.
- Youthful: Being a kid, Popo has a zest for living life to the fullest by going on exciting adventures, exploration and doing whatever he wants, as long as if it does not cause harm.
- Hard-Working: Popo takes his mountaineering training rather seriously and refuses to take shortcuts.
- Idealistic: Popo believes that the power of teamwork with Nana is powerful enough to take down any threats, which is no wonder he and Nana work as a fundamental and loyal team together.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Popo believes in the power of friendship not only because of him having a blood bond with Nana, but also because during the clash between Meta Knight and Lucario, Popo and Nana were watching the entire scene in paranoia, and due to Popo and Nana's sentiments, Meta Knight and Lucario befriended each other at the end, which delights him and Nana.
- Is a True Hero: Popo is often willing to risk his life for the greater good.
- Has Rivals: The Condor, in Ice Climber, and Meta Knight, in the Subspace Emissary, although this was fleeting.
- Forgiving: Popo does not show grudge against Meta Knight and Lucario for leaving him and Nana to fall towards the canyon after the Battleship Halberd crashed the Great Fox into the Glacial Peak in the Subspace Emissary.
- Calls Out Attacks: Popo shouts out loud vocalizations whenever he performs attacks to call them out.
- Rebellious: Popo shows deep hatred towards tyranny.
- Is a Kid Hero: Popo is 8 years old.
