What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Mike has saved every child in the human world as well as thousands of jobs by defeating Randall and Waternoose and has shown to be annoyed by Sulley's cheating.
- Courageous: While he can be paranoid and fearful, Mike has been shown to be brave in both films, even taking a decoy Boo with him to distract the CDA in the climactic fight against Waternoose.
- Energetic: Mike has moments of being excitable and loud.
- Stubborn: Despite never being fit to be a scarer, Mike pursued the career completely and put everything into it.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: In Monsters University, Mike wanted to pursue a career in Scaring, and in Monsters Inc, he wants to return Boo home.
- Hard-Working: He worked extremely hard in the Scaring School and the Scare Games, even getting an A+ in a test. In addition, he worked his way up Monsters Inc.'s hierarchy to become a scare floor assistant.
- Optimistic: While he can be pessimistic at times, Mike manages to maintain his overall upbeat and determined attitude.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: After going to a field trip to Monsters Inc, Mike ended up caring for his teammates and put faith in them.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Throughout both movies, Mike has braved various dangers.
- Short-Tempered: As a sharp contrast to Sulley's calmness, Mike can be rather wrathful and impatient.
- Has a Rival: In Monsters University, he and Sulley originally didn't get along very well and detested each other. He also shares Sulley's dislike of Randall.
- Rebellious: As a child, he disobeyed his teacher's will and went onto the scare floor and into the door, despite child contact being declared dangerous at the time.
