Merida is the main protagonist of Brave. She is voiced by Kelly Macdonald.
What Makes Her a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: She ended the war between four clans, released Mor'du's spirit from his cursed bear form and turned her mother Elinor.
- Courageous/Reckless: Merida can be bold enough to take risks to the point of making decisions without realizing the consequences.
- Energetic: Merida gets riled up very easily and likes to venture into the wilderness with her pet horse Angus.
- Stubborn: Merida wants to follow her own path despite Elinor's expectations placed on her.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Refusing to get married, Merida wants to create her own path in life by finding a way to change her fate.
- Hard-Working: Since her childhood, Merida trains herself in combat skills and spends her time venturing in the wilderness learning how to survive. This results in her becoming proficient in combat and developing vast forest knowledge.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Merida manages to survive her escape from Mor'du thanks to Elinor.
- Unnatural Hairstyle: Merida has a long and incredibly curly hair.
- Short-Tempered: Merida is very prone to angry outbursts to the point where she has a hard time thinking before figuring a solution.
- Big Eater: At one point, Merida is seen eating a big piece of meat before Elinor informs her not to do so as a princess.
- Has a Mentor: Her mother Elinor teaches how to be a princess.
- Mischievous: Merida can sometimes be seen teasing others or pulling pranks on her father Fergus.
- Rebellious: Merida is willing to defy the traditions of royalty, even if it results in her family being caught in a war with the three clans.
