Kyo Kusanagi is the main protagonist of The King of Fighters series.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Kyo delivers the finishing blow to Orochi, helping the resealing of Orochi.
- Courageous/Reckless: Kyo is not fearing to fight against different opponents.
- Stubborn: Kyo insists to participate in King of Fighters tournament even after events discouraging him to do so, such as being defeated by Goenitz and sent to the hospital (The King of Fighters '96), or having dream of being defeated (The King of Fighters '97).
- Hard-Working: As the Kusanagi clan's leader, Kyo accepts and receives extensive training, which allows him to be the winner several King of Fighters tournaments.
- Unintelligent: Though he has decent combat skills, Kyo is not interested in study and is unable to graduate from high school as a result.
- Has Rivals: Iori Yagami is Kyo's rival.
- Rebellious: Kyo priories his personal interest, including his clan's responsibilities. While Kyo takes his clan's responsibilities on a more personal level and disregards the ancient legends as his reason for his actions, Kyo maintains his heroic attitude in his own rule.
- Is a Blood Knight: Kyo enjoys fighting warriors that are considerably stronger than him.
