Korra is the titular main protagonist of The Legend of Korra, the sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender.

She was voiced by Janet Varney.

What Makes Her a Shonen Hero?[]

  • Heroic/Honorable: Korra has saved the world on three occasions and she refuses to kill her enemies regardless of how much harm they have done.
  • Courageous/Reckless: Korra doesn't hesitate to face a fight head-on and is willing to put her life in danger to protect those she cares about.
  • Energetic: Korra is rather hot-blooded and gets excited about something that intrigues her.
  • Stubborn: Korra is very headstrong when it comes to being instructed by Tenzin's teachings and she tends to get into situations despite being warned by others not to do so.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: Korra wants to be the Avatar that wants to make the world a better place.
  • Hard-Working: While she mastered Water, Earth and Fire at 4 years old, Korra struggled with Airbending since it required a free and calm mind, which contrasts to Korra's impatient nature. Throughout the first season, she has been working hard with Airbending and finally achieved it during her battle against Amon.
  • Optimistic: No matter how many times she falls, Korra gathers up her positive attitude.
  • Determined: Regardless of the odds stacked against her, Korra is often the last one to back down.
  • Confident/Cocky: Being the Avatar leads Korra to be overconfident with her abilities and to underestimate her opponents at times.
  • Self-Sacrificing: Korra is often willing to put her own life at risk first to save others.
  • Resilient: While she had suffered from great trauma for years as a result of the poisonous liquid metal in her body from her fight against Zachery, Korra eventually seeks help from Toph to Earthbend the metal from her body and manage to regain her confidence.
  • Believes in the Power of Friendship: Korra gains her strength from how much she values her friends and family.
  • Oblivious to Love: Korra was unaware of Bolin's crush on her until she kisses his older brother Mako.
  • Possesses Plot Armor: Korra has survived through having Raava extracted from her body and having poisonous metal during her battle against the Red Lotus.
  • Short-Tempered: Korra is not only impulsive, but she is also rather impatient, is quick to resort to violence to solve problems and struggles to control her emotions.
  • Has Mentors: She was taught to Airbend by Tenzin and Metalbend by Suyin.
  • Mischievous: Korra occasionally gets into her share of silly shenanigans.
  • Rebellious: Korra usually defies what her mentors tell her what to do.
  • Is a Blood Knight: Korra takes enjoyment out of fighting her enemies.
  • Is a Primary-Color Champion: Korra wears a blue tunic with accents of white.
  • Is a Challenge Seeker: Korra wants to find worthy opponents who can challenge her strength.
  • Is a Dude Magnet: Korra gains the attraction from boys, most notably Mako, Bolin and Prince Wan.
  • Is a True Hero: With no selfish motivations behind her actions, Korra saves the world countless times.
  • Is a Mascot with Attitude: Korra has a rebellious, cocky and sassy attitude and enjoys a good fight.
  • Is a Kid/Teen Hero: Korra mastered bending Water, Earth and Fire by age 4, but she didn't start fighting dangerous enemies until she was 17.
