Kirby is the titular main protagonist of the Kirby franchise. He is a cute pink puffball who likes to eat, make friends, and save Planet Popstar, and sometimes the entire universe from the forces of evil.
What Makes Him A Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Saved Planet Popstar from all types of forces of evil with the help of his friends.
- Courageous: Kirby will do anything to save Planet Popstar, even if it means facing off against the deadliest of villains, like Marx, Dark Matter, Zero, 02, Dark Meta Knight, Dark Mind, Dark Nebula, Magolor (when he was corrupted by the Master Crown), Queen Sectonia, Star Dream, Void Termina, and Fecto Elfilis. He also goes out of his way to do things like saving Waddle Dees from the Beast Pack too.
- Energetic: Kirby can sometimes be energetic, especially in the older games. Kirby: Return to Dreamland, in fact, starts with him playing with Dedede and Bandana Dee.
- Unintelligent: Kirby gets sidetracked by snacks often and did not listen to Dedede when he tried to stop him from putting back the Star Rod on the Fountain of Dreams (Meta Knight's case in Squeak Squad is more understandable, as he does not show any signs of telling Kirby about Dark Nebula being trapped inside the chest). He's also extremely naive, as he got easily tricked by Marx and Magolor into helping them do their villainous deeds.
- Optimistic: Kirby is always shown to be a cheerful pink guy who is always happy to help any friend in need of his help.
- Determined: Kirby is determined to help any friend or stop any evil force attacking Dream Land. This trait of his has been exaggerated once, in fact, as he was once so determined to go after a slice of cake in Squeak Squad, even accidentally releasing Dark Nebula during his quest.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Strongly. There's an entire game themed around this aspect of Kirby called Kirby Star Allies. Even then, Kirby believes in the power of friendship as shown in other games, like when he volunteered to help Magolor, whose ship crashed. He'd also go out of his way to help him with obtaining the Master Crown.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Don't tell me that defeating Fecto Elfilis as a truck Mouthful is not plot armor.
- Short-Tempered: Squeak Squad. Need I say more other than the game's conflict is orchestrated by Kirby's cake being stolen?
- Has Rivals/Mentors: King Dedede and Meta Knight.
- Big Eater: Obviously. In fact, most Kirby games have you heal by collecting food, and there's also a Gourmet Race in Kirby Super Star.
- Forgiving: Ever since the first Kirby game. This is what led to King Dedede's redemption. See, after you beat Extra Mode, Dedede shows remorse for stealing the food in Dream Land after being defeated by Kirby, and Kirby willingly forgives him.
- Is A Primary-Color Champion: Red feet and blue eyes.
- Is A Challenge Seeker: Why else does Kirby bother with going to the Arena in a lot of Kirby games?
- Is A True Hero: Always sacrifices what he likes to help others.
- Calls Out Attacks: A bit of a stretch, but in the Smash Bros. franchise, if Kirby copies Ness, the attack he gains from him will be called out by name.
