Jonathan Joestar is the overarching protagonist of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise, serving as the main protagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood.
He was voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu in Japanese and he is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch in English.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Jonathan was able to defeat Dio despite his limited resources, and is also the most noble of the Joestar family due to his gentlemanly personality.
- Courageous: Jonathan doesn't show fear no matter the situation, and even sacrificed himself for the greater good in the end.
- Energetic: Despite his calm composure, Jonathan has a hotblooded side, which he displays quite often throughout Phantom Blood.
- Stubborn: Jonathan is extremely determined, and doesn't cower even though he knows the odds are against him, notably going to Ogre Street to look for a cure for his father, despite knowing how clear it was rigged against him.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Jonathan dedicated himself to become a true gentleman, and also had the goal of stopping Dio and end the threat he posed.
- Hard-Working: While he did master it in a brief time, Jonathan does put his effort in mastering Hamon.
- Optimistic: Despite living in a dark time and going through many challenges, Jonathan kept his head up to the end.
- Determined: Even though he often faces all sorts of difficulties, Jonathan uses his unconquerable will to push ahead.
- Self-Sacrificing: Jonathan chose to sacrifice himself to protect Erina and baby Lisa Lisa.
- Resilient: Jonathan refuses to let any sort of challenge push him down.
- Oblivious to Love: While he did have a crush on Erina, Jonathan initially had no idea she reciprocated his feelings.
- Spiky Hair: Jonathan has spiky hair
- Unnatural Hair Color: Blue in the anime.
- Short-Tempered: Despite his gentlemanly personality, Jonathan does direct his wrath at people he feels deserve it, such as beating up Dio for kissing Erina.
- Has a Rival/Mentor: His main rival is Dio Brando and he was taught to use Hamon by Zeppeli.
- Tragic Past: As an infant, Jonathan lost his mother in a carriage accident, which would impact him to the point it pretty much was the motive for his heroic sacrifice.
- Forgiving: Jonathan ultimately forgave Dio for all he did prior to his death.
- Is a Primary-Colored Champion: Jonathan’s color motif revolves around blue, as he has blue hair and is often seen wearing blue. He has also worn other primary colors as well such as gold and red.
- Is a True Hero: Jonathan is easily the most pure-hearted of all the JoJos, and is willing to put others before him, to the point he sacrificed his own life to defeat Dio once and for all.

- SENDO HAMON OVERDRIVE!!!
- SILVER ARM METAL OVERDRIVE!!!
- UNDERWATER TURQUOISE BLUE OVERDRIVE!!!
