Jim Lake Jr. is the main protagonist of the Tales of Arcadia franchise, serving as the main protagonist of Trollhunters, a minor character in 3Below, a major protagonist in Wizards, and the main protagonist of Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans. He was voiced by the late Anton Yelchin in Seasons 1-2 and a small portion of Season 3 and by Emile Hirsch for the rest of the franchise.

- Heroic/Honorable: Jim saves the entire universe by defeating Bellroc.
- Courageous/Reckless: Jim rarely runs away from a fight and is willing to risk his life to save those he cares about.
- Stubborn: Jim does what he believes is the right thing despite other people advising him not to.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Jim wants to be a hero in his own right and live a life of adventure.
- Hard-Working: Jim trains with his abilities in order to prepare himself for more dangerous threats.
- Optimistic: Though there are times where he feels hopeless, Jim manages to see the positive in his life.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Throughout the franchise, Jim turns most of his enemies into his loyal allies.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Jim almost died on a few occasions, only to be nursed back to health.
- Has Rivals/Mentors: Jim had Draal the Deadly, the son of the Trollhunter before him, as a rival and is mentored by Blinky.
- Tragic Past: When Jim turned 5 years old on his birthday, his father abandoned him and his mother, leading to Jim becoming the man of the house and taking care of his mom.
