Markus Sebastian "Mark" Grayson, also known by his heroic mantle Invincible, is the titular main protagonist of the Image Comics comic series Invincible and its Amazon Prime animated television series adaption of the same name.
In the TV series, he is voiced by Steven Yeun, who also voiced Wan.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Mark has saved the world and even the entire universe from various threats, namely the Viltrum Empire.
- Courageous/Reckless: Mark doesn't show fear at any dangerous situations, to the point of not evaluating the consequences fully before stepping into battle.
- Energetic: Mark has an energetic disposition and can get hotblooded in battle.
- Stubborn: Mark never abandons his morals even when the stakes are high, best shown by how he chose to defy his father when he found out about the Viltrumites’ goal to conquer Earth.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Mark’s main goal is to protect humanity and the universe.
- Hard-Working: He has been shown to put effort into hero work and balancing both his alter ego and personal life.
- Optimistic: Mark is shown to be rather optimistic, seeing the good in people, and doesn’t lose it despite being introduced to the complex work of being a superhero.
- Idealistic: Mark overall possesses a strong sense of morality and tries his best to follow it.
- Determined: No matter how many odds are stacked against him, Invincible refuses to back down from a battle.
- Confident: While he starts off as somewhat doubtful, Invincible later becomes confident in his ability to protect people.
- Self-Sacrificing: Invincible is willing to put himself at stake in his goal to do good.
- Resilient: Despite his hardships, Mark always carries on whenever he falls.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Mark has been shown to survive various dangerous situations, even those exceeding the limit of his Viltrumite powers, such as surviving fighting with Thragg in the sun.
- Short-Tempered: While he is usually calm, Mark possesses some amount of wrath, which is able to help him defeat Conquest.
- Has a Mentor: Mark was trained by his father Omni-Man in becoming a superhero and familiarizing on how to use his powers after gaining them.
- Rebellious: Mark doesn’t hesitate to go against powerful authority figures if they challenge his morals.
- Forgiving: Mark chose to give his father a second chance after defeating him, which would lead to him redeeming himself.
- Is a Primary-Colored Champion: Mark’s hero costume consists of yellow and blue.
- Is a True Hero: Invincible has been shown many times to be the time of person who is willing to help others no matter what, and doesn’t care if anything is in his way.
- Is a Teen Hero: Mark begins his superhero career at 17.
