Huey Freeman is one of the two main protagonists of The Boondocks. He is voiced by Regina King, who also voiced his younger brother Riley.

What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]

  • Heroic/Honorable: Huey created a revolutionary plan to help the slaves to escape from Freedomland.
  • Courageous: Huey rarely hesitates to help innocent people in need.
  • Stubborn: Huey refuses to back down from a fight or a cause.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: Being a radical left-wing revolutionary, Huey wants to make a world a better place for his community despite the fact that almost no one around him wanted to change their ways for the better.
  • Hard-Working: Huey does all he can to make the black community lead a better path in life.
  • Determined: Though he develops a more apathetic side as the show went on, Huey still refuses to back down from a good cause, whether it is stand up for what he believes in or to free people from oppression.
  • Self-Sacrificing: Huey often risks his own neck to protect his friends and family.
  • Resilient: Despite being unable to reason with others at times, Huey will go all out to make the world a better place.
  • Possesses Plot Armor: Huey consistently manages to survive countless dangers.
  • Oblivious to Love: Due to being heavily focused on his activism as well as his own disinterest in romance, Huey doesn't seem to notice Jazmine's crush on him.
  • Short-Tempered: While nowhere near his grandfather Robert's level of irritability, Huey can have moments of being openly angry, especially when dealing with the stupidity and ignorance of the people around him.
  • Has a Rival: Huey has a rivalry with his brother Riley, as they sometimes fight each other, both physically and verbally.
  • Rebellious: Given that he is a left-wing revolutionary, Huey regularly goes against corrupt authority.
  • Is a Mascot with Attitude: Huey has a sharp intellect, a fierce sense of justice, and a rebellious spirit that challenges societal norms. Huey’s confidence, determination, and willingness to stand up for what he believes in, even when it’s unpopular or dangerous, make him memorable.
  • Street-Smart: Huey uses his skills to get himself out of situations.
  • Is a Kid Hero: Huey is 10 years old.
