Harry James Potter is the titular main protagonist of the book series and movie franchise of the same name.

In the films, he was portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe.

What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]

  • Heroic/Honorable: Harry has saved the entire wizarding world from Voldemort and displays a high code of honor, ready to spare Wormtail despite him ruining his life completely.
  • Courageous: Harry is known for his great bravery, a trait that defines him as a true Gryffindor.
  • Energetic: While he is mostly tranquil, Harry has moments of being hot-blooded and excitable. This is more noticeable in the films.
  • Stubborn: Harry possesses a massive amount of stubbornness, to the point (in the books) the reason Voldemort failed to acquire the Sorcerer/Philosopher’s Stone was because Harry had pointed out there would be “no Hogwarts” to be expelled from after Ron and Hermione’s protests.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: While he does have defeating Voldemort as his ultimate goal, Harry has pursued several other goals, ranging from mastering the Patronus Charm to destroying the Horcruxes.
  • Hard-Working: In the third book, Harry initially fails to perform the Patronus Charm and spends a great amount of time mastering it.
  • Optimistic: Despite losing his parents, being maltreated by the Dursleys, and enduring a lot of hardships throughout the books, as well as generally being very snarky, Harry held his head up to the end.
  • Determined: Regardless of the odds stacked against him, Harry continues to go to great lengths to save the day.
  • Confident/Cocky: Despite his moments of self-doubt, Harry overall has high faith in himself and can be overconfident at times.
  • Self-Sacrificing: Whenever someone gets hurt or killed, Harry often goes out of his way to risk his life to protect those he have left.
  • Resilient: In spite of his losses, Harry continues to rise stronger and wider than he has ever been before.
  • Believes in the Power of Friendship: Harry greatly values his friends, to the point that it allows him to become stronger.
  • Oblivious to Love: For the first part of the series, Harry is largely unaware of Ginny’s infatuation with him.
  • Possesses Plot Armor: Even barring Hermione’s intelligence, Harry ultimately has very good luck. This is best shown when he was able to defeat the Basilisk when Hermione was petrified.
  • Short-Tempered: As it was empathized that he is supposed to be a human, not a "god" despite being “The Chosen One”, Harry is ultimately somewhat wrathful.
  • Spiky Hair: In the books, his hairstyle is described as having a kind of magical permanence; it's constantly unruly and messy, immune to hairbrushes, combs, and gel, and whenever it's cut short, it's back to the exact same style it was before a day later.
    • This is physically present in the film adaptation of The Prisoner of Azkaban, where Harry's hair is shown to be consistently spiky.
  • Has a Rival/Mentor: He has a rivalry with Draco Malfoy, and is mainly guided by Dumbledore, as well as taught in magic by the Hogwarts teachers.
  • Mischievous: Harry has his moments of teasing his friends and, in Prisoner of Azkaban, he uses his Invisibility Cloak to pull pranks on Malfoy and his friends.
  • Rebellious: Harry has broken many school rules to defeat the looming threats in the first two books/movies, and refers to Voldemort by his name, when it was socially banned.
  • Tragic Past: When Harry was a year old, his parents were murdered by Lord Voldemort due to the latter's fear of the prophecy about the Chosen One will be his downfall. From that point on, Harry was sent to be raised by his aunt and uncle, who are both abusive towards him.
  • Forgiving: Harry forgave the Dursleys for the mistreatment he received from them as a child and Wormtail for betraying his parents.
  • Is a Primary-Color Champion: As a Gryffindor, he wears their house colors red and gold.
  • Is a True Hero: Harry is noted to have a "weakness for heroics", and is willing to go to great lengths to help people.
  • Calls Out Attacks: Like most wizards, Harry calls out spells to cast them.
    • EXPELLIARMUS!!!
  • Is a Mascot with Attitude: Harry has an extremely courageous and fierce personality, possesses a sarcastic sense of humor, is a skilled Quidditch athlete, and has a tendency to break rules for good causes.
  • Is a Kid/Teen Hero: Harry starts his hero's journey at 11 years old and ends it at 17.
