Gohan is one of the three tritagonists (alongside Bulma and Piccolo) of the Dragon Ball franchise.
He is voiced by Masako Nozawa (who also voiced Goku) in Japanese and Saffron Henderson, Brad Swalie and Kyle Herbert in English.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Gohan has saved the world by defeating Cell.
- Courageous/Reckless: Though a pacifist by nature, Gohan will fight to protect his loved ones.
- Energetic: Though not to the same extent as an adult like his father, Gohan has his childlike moments.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Gohan wants to become a scientist to study alien life.
- Hard-Working: Gohan trains his martial artistry since childhood.
- Optimistic: Despite his hardships, Gohan is overall a cheerful person.
- Determined: While he is usually reluctant to face a threat, Gohan becomes determined when one threatens his loved ones.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Gohan gains his strength from how much he values the lives of his friends.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Gohan manages to defeat Cell with a Kamehameha Wave with his right arm after the latter injured the former's left one.
- Oblivious to Love: Gohan was momentarily unaware of Videl's crush on him.
- Spiky Hair: While his hairstyle varies throughout the series, his hair remains consistently spiky (save for the Frieza arc, where it’s a bowl cut).
- Has a Mentor: Gohan was mainly taught to fight by Piccolo.
- Big Eater/Drinker: Being a half-Saiyan, Gohan has a habit of eating and drinking large amounts of food/beverages.
- Is a Blood Knight: While Gohan generally dislikes violence, he does get some enjoyment out of fighting his enemies.
- Is a Kid/Teen Hero: Gohan starts out as a 4 year-old when he joins the heroes.
