What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Genya helped to slay Hantengu and sacrificed himself to defeat Kokushibo.
- Courageous/Reckless: Genya often charges into battle without any fear.
- Energetic: Genya is very hot-blooded.
- Stubborn: Genya can be pretty adamant on his actions and refuses to seek help from others.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Genya wants to become a demon slayer to clear a past misunderstanding between him and his brother Sanemi.
- Possesses Plot Armor: While he is one of the many casualties in the story, being the only non-Hashira demon slayer to die, Genya did manage to survive being impaled by Aizetsu.
- Spiky Hair: Genya has spiky hair.
- Unnatural Hair Color: When he ingested Aizetsu's flesh, Genya's hair begins to show yellow tips.
- Short-Tempered: Genya has a pretty explosive temper like his brother Sanemi, and also holds grudges against people.
- Tragic Past: Genya grew up in an abusive household where his father constantly beat him, his mother, and his siblings. Although his life temporarily became better when a villager killed his father, it would turn worse when his mother was turned into a demon by Muzan, and shortly after, she attacked him and his siblings, leading to the death of all of them except for Genya and Sanemi, who killed their mother. Not knowing the circumstances, Genya denounced Sanemi as a murderer, and it led to the brothers' relationship deteriorating.
