What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Forrest has performed various heroic actions across his life, such as saving his platoon in Vietnam, uncovering Watergate, donating money to a church and a hospital, and giving a share of his shrimp company to Bubba's family and bringing them out of poverty. He also has a sense of honor, as he decides to enter the shrimp business simply so that he can honor Bubba's wish to become a shrimp boat captain.
- Courageous: Forrest hardly shows any fear in the face of danger at all, as shown by how he risked his life multiple times to save his platoon.
- Stubborn: Despite Lieutenant Dan's orders, Forrest refused to abandon him to die and saves him in the shootout.
- Hard-Working: He has been shown to be constantly putting effort into doing things, such as assembling his weapon in record time during his time in the army and when he first started to work on a shrimp boat, where he tries his hardest to shrimp despite not yielding much success.
- Unintelligent: Not only does he possess an IQ of 75, Forrest is also shown to be very naive in understanding the world.
- Optimistic: Forrest is shown to be extremely optimistic and often sees the good in people.
- Determined: He has many moments of resolve, best represented in the scene where he decides to run across America for three years with no particular reason.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Forrest has been shown to survive various dangers such as gunfire and an airstrike in Vietnam and Hurricane Carmen.
- Short-Tempered: While he is shown to be calm and understanding to people, Forrest can get violent at times, especially whenever Jenny gets hurt.
- Big Drinker: During his first visit to the White House, Forrest drank 15 Dr. Peppers out of pure thirst.
- Is a Primary-Colored Champion: He is shown in a white suit and blue shirt in the present, and in his football days, he wore a red and white outfit.
- Is an Underdog: Despite his low intelligence, Forrest was able to reach various magnificent achievements throughout his life.
