Flik is the main protagonist of Pixar's 2nd full-length animated feature film A Bug's Life.
He is voiced by Dave Foley.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Flik has saved his colony from Hopper's tyranny after his death.
- Courageous: Flik, alongside the Circus Bugs, risks his life to save Dot from the bird despite the risk of being eaten by said bird.
- Energetic: Flik tends to be excitable whether it is his inventions or exploring the city.
- Stubborn: Flik continues to create his inventions despite everyone else constantly telling to put an end to it.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Despite not being respected for his ideas, Flik wants to create a better life for his colony and prove that he would make a difference.
- Hard-Working: Flik puts in a lot of effort when it comes to his inventions.
- Optimistic: Though he has his moments of self-doubt, Flik manages to get back up to regain his optimistic attitude and push forward.
- Idealistic: While others are doubtful about it, Flik believes that the ant colony can fight back against the grasshoppers.
- Determined: Even when he is under depression, Flik refuses to run away from a fight.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Flik befriends the Circus Bugs and has inspired them to be the heroes that the colony needs. This leads to the point of them fighting alongside the ant colony when Flik stands up to Hopper.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Alongside the Circus Bugs, Flik barely manages to survive from saving Dot, or otherwise, he would've been eaten by the bird.
- Short-Tempered: While he is overall very easygoing to a fault, Flik has an irritable side, as he yells at Dot for reminding that the seed is actually a rock when they are supposed to imagine the rock as a seed.
- Rebellious: Unlike the rest of the ant colony who prefer to follow the traditions, Flik refuses to conform to the standards and decides to create inventions that make the colony's lives better.
