Fa Mulan is the titular protagonist of the animated film Mulan.
She was voiced by Ming-Na Wen with Lea Salonga doing her singing voice.
What Makes Her a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Mulan took her father's place in the army to prevent his death, saved the China from Shang Yu's invasion, and got the princesses to marry their true boyfriends.
- Courageous: Fa Mulan is not scared by the strength of Shang Yu and his army, and would fearlessly fight against them.
- Stubborn: Fa Mulan warns the people several times that Shan Yu is still alive and would infiltrate the city, after she is revealed to be a woman and is distrusted by Li Shang, something could hurt her emotionally.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Mulan joins the army to save her aging father from participating in a war against the Hun Army and to bring honor to her family.
- Hard-Working: In the army, Fa Mulan trains herself to be a physically and mentally capable solider, to the extent that she rises to the top of her class, setting an example for the men surrounding her.
- Optimistic: Despite her actions and decisions are discouraged by different people for different reasons, Fa Mulan retains her optimistic attitude.
- Has a Mentor: She was trained by Captain Li Shang to be a soldier.
- Rebellious: Fa Mulan rejects the arrange marriage and other prejudges against woman.
