Emmet Joseph Brickowski is the main protagonist of The LEGO Movie.
He is voiced by Chris Pratt.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Emmet has saved the Lego world from all sorts of threats such as the Kragle and Armamageddon.
- Courageous: Emmet is willing to risk his life to vanquish threats, even ready to sacrifice himself to save the master builders.
- Energetic: Emmet has many moments of being excitable.
- Stubborn: Despite being told by the Master Builders that he is too one-dimensional to be "special", Emmet does not believe their words and persists with his goal.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Emmet pursues to become a master builder to prevent the Kragle from destroying the Lego world.
- Unintelligent: While he eventually becomes a highly skilled Master Builder, Emmet is originally not very clever and has shows rather poor imagination.
- Optimistic: Although he has his moments of sadness, Emmet believes everything is awesome and is generally shown to be very cheerful.
- Determined: Emmet is determined to the point he doesn’t give up on anything he starts.
- Self-Sacrificing: Emmet sacrificed himself to save the Master Builders from being blown up.
- Resilient: Despite his various failures, Emmet gets back up every time.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Emmet is shown to desire making friends strongly, trying to befriend the construction workers (and being shocked about them not caring about him), and later forming close bonds with the master builders.
- Possesses Plot Armor: After being sent to the real world, Emmet is able to return to Bricksburg thanks to Finn.
- Has a Mentor: Vitruvius can be viewed as Emmet's mentor.
- Is a Primary-Color Champion: Emmet has yellow skin as well as wearing a blue shirt underneath an orange vest.
- Is an Underdog: Emmet starts off as an average construction worker who can't build things without instruction, but after acquiring the Piece of Resistance and being declared the Special, he becomes a great hero and Master Builder.
