Chris Rock is the titular main protagonist of the Everybody Hates Chris franchise. In the original show, he was portrayed by Tyler James Williams and in the animated sequel series Everybody Still Hates Chris, he is voiced by Tim Johnson, Jr.

- Heroic/Honorable: When he is on his way to school, Chris saves a baby in the middle of a police shootout.
- Courageous/Reckless: Chris was brave and strong-willed enough to run through the police shootout to reach to school before being late.

- Stubborn: Chris refuses to clean the dishes as his mother Rochelle asks him to do so.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Before becoming a comedian, Chris wants to find love in his life.
- He fell in love with his neighbor Keisha, only to get rejected by her multiple times.
- He sets up a date with Yvette, only to be stood up by her.
- He manages to get together with his next-door neighbor Tasha Clarke, only to break up with her when he realizes how clingy and envious she is.
- Unintelligent: Though very street-smart and knowledgeable about black culture, Chris is book-dumb, gets poor grades, sometimes making ill-advised decisions and often naive and impulsive.
- Hard-Working: Despite being a mediocre student, Chris manages to get better grades in the later seasons.
- Optimistic: Despite all of his misfortunes as a result of bad luck, Chris manages to look at the bright side and value the positives in his life.
- Determined: Regardless of his bad luck, Chris refuses to let his failures define him and manages to survive through his struggles.
- Resilient: Chris doesn't let his failures make him who he is as a person.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Chris values his friendship with Greg Wulliger, going as far as to prioritize looking for him over going out with his date to the school dance.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Chris manages to survive running through the police shootout.
- Oblivious to Love: Though he has a crush on Tasha, he was unaware of how interested she is in him.
- Has Rivals/Mentors: Chris has a rivalry with school bully Joey Caruso until after he dropped out of Tattaglia. Chris has several mentors, specifically his substitute teacher who teaches how to be more diligent, both in school and in life.
- Mischievous: Chris takes pleasure out of pranking Caruso as revenge for bullying him throughout the 8th grade.
- Rebellious: Being a teenager, Chris disobeys his parents to do what he wants.
- Is a Primary-Color Champion: In the animated series, Chris wears a red sweater vest over a white shirt and blue jeans.
- Is a Delinquent: Chris commits several crimes and gets arrested two times throughout the series.
- Is an Underdog: Chris is considerably less naturally talented and popular with girls than his younger brother Drew, but he has his ability to persevere through his struggles, which is why the latter looks up to him.
- Is a Mascot with Attitude: Given that he has become one of the greatest comedians of all time, Chris has a quippy sense of humor. He also has a love for hip-hop and can be seen wearing cool clothes on several occasions.
- Street-Smart: Due to growing up in a crime-ridden neighborhood, Chris is capable of coming up with ideas on his feet and knows how to navigate complex situations.
- Is a Teen Hero: Chris was 13 years old at the beginning of the show.
