Eh, what's up, doc?
~ Bugs 's famous catchphrase.

Bugs Bunny is a major character in the Looney Tunes franchise, serving as the main protagonist oftentimes, he also serves as the mascot of the company Warner Bros.

He is an mischievous rabbit who goes on many adventures, resorts to using his street-smarts & sharp wit to survive events, cleverly outsmarts the villains into dismay and keeps his universe/home safe with the other Looney Tunes and the Tiny Toons, and he has a lot of fun with pulling fast ones (as well as pulling elaborate revenge schemes) on his many adversaries such as Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam and even Daffy Duck, which he often does for his own amusement/enjoyment as well as teaching lessons to others, albeit in the manner of a trickster-god.

What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]

  • Heroic/Honorable: While mostly selfish and wants to be left alone, he will sometimes fight for what's right by sometimes saving cute animals like Playboy Penguin from Frigid Hare and 8 Ball Bunny and Shorty in Rabbit's Kin. He also defeated Marvin the Martian and foiled his plans to destroy earth multiple times, thrice in the Golden Age cartoons.
  • Courageous: He is willing to challenge any and all foes that disturbs him, no matter how big or powerful, either by being mean to other people or by just disturbing him. He's the Trope Codifier for Karmic Trickster in Western Animation, after all.
  • Energetic: Though not quite as hyperactive and overenthusiastic as most characters in the series, Bugs still did have his moments here and there of being manic and lively.
  • Stubborn: One example of him being stubborn is when Elmer Fudd didn't want him to make a mess in the theater that was built over his rabbit hole in "Box Office Bunny".
  • Pursues A Big-End Goal: In the Tiny Toons franchise, Bugs seems to just want the students at Acme Loo to learn how to be great as slapstick cartoon characters.
  • Hard-Working: The amount of thought, wit and ingenuity put into his schemes and trickery, is what makes him incredibly intelligent and resourceful.
  • Optimistic: In the non-traditional sense. He is optimistic in the sense that he always keeps a calm attitude in almost every situation.
  • Determined: Never gives up, in fact, even in the face of obstacles, he is pretty calm and laid-back.
  • Confident/Cocky: He is pretty confident in his trickery. Though he wasn't always this out of universe.
  • Resilient: Despite always getting himself into predicaments or sometimes not getting the happy ending he deserves; Bugs Bunny refuses to let any of his failures or mistakes define him as a person (unlike his adversaries).
  • Unpredictable: There are many times the tricks Bugs pulls are often very unexpected, much to the surprise of his antagonists.
  • Possesses Plot Armor: A crucial part of him being not just a Looney Tunes character, but arguably THE Looney Tunes character. This especially applies to him. He (usually) always gets away with everything and every time it seems he is in danger, he quickly recovers and gets the upper hand. Even in What's Opera Doc, though he seems to have died, some people may interpret him breaking the fourth wall making a remark about what audiences expect from operas.
  • Short-Tempered: Not a typical part of his character, and eventually gets subverted, but he does act somewhat ballistic and enraged towards Cecil in the Tortoise and Hare trilogy of Golden Age cartoons.
  • Spiky Hair: Bugs has spiky tuft of fur on his head.
  • Has Rivals: Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam being his most prominent out of Bugs' countless list of rivals he's fought.
  • Mischievous: Pretty obviously the epitome of a fun-loving trickster and will find ways to tease his enemies. He sometimes likes to pull tricks out of mischief, and this is his most iconic trait of being a puckish yet incredibly clever prankster who relishes in mocking and turning the tables on the enemies he has outsmarted into dismay and is often shown to enjoy teasing Wile E. Coyote and Elmer Fudd for their frequent shortcomings.
  • Rebellious: Rebels against everyone by becoming enough of a danger to have a higher bounty put on him after he saw that rabbits give low price as bounties at one point.
  • Is A Blood Knight: Used to be often just a prankster who could pick fights with people for the thrill of it, especially with his prototypes (though he still has notable examples, like in the aforementioned Wabbit Twouble). Even then, the fact that he often uses violence to attack those who deserve it, which probably means he qualifies as a Blood Knight.
  • Is a Primary Color Champion: Bugs has white fur and gloves.
  • Is A Challenge Seeker: "Of course you realize this means war!" - Bugs Bunny a few seconds after anyone threatens him. He often gives his foes an elaborate form of retribution out of revenge.
  • Is A True Hero: Can be one at times, especially when he chooses to be selfless over his own desires to be alone and sometimes wanted to help his enemies out of the kindness of his heart.
  • Is A Chick Magnet: Has attracted a few ladies in the series, such as Lola Bunny, a random fat bunny in the short "Rabbit Romeo", a literal mama bear in the short "Bugs Bunny and the Three Bears", Daisy; a bunny who looks just like Bugs himself in the short "Hare Splitter", and he even got two human ladies to fight over him in The Looney Tunes Show.
  • Is a Mascot with Attitude: Bugs is a mischievous troublemaker with a quippy and snarky sense of humor, is a self-aware jokester who provided many witty lines, is often daring enough to show lots of sass towards his enemies and happens to be a very cheeky person when he cracks jokes, thus making him stand out the most.
  • Street-Smart: Bugs is often clever enough to think on his feet and tends to have many creative ways to overcome obstacles and achieve many of his goals, especially in terms of surviving from the danger he encounters and how to outsmart many of his enemies to discipline them.
