Ash Ketchum is one of the main protagonists of the Pokémon anime.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Ash has saved the world several times with his Pokémon and companions.
- Courageous/Reckless: Ash constantly accepts challenge or battles villains without much hesitation.
- Energetic: Ash has a rather excitable and adventurous personality.
- Stubborn: Ash would do heroic actions which put him in danger.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Ash wants to become the Pokémon Master.
- Optimistic: Even though he loses countless battles, Ash learns from his experiences and continues to stay positive.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Ash values his friendships with his main Pokémon Pikachu and countless Pokémon Trainers, which grants him the strength to keep fighting.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Ash gets severely attacked by Mew and Mewtwo, which turned him into stone. Thankfully, he gets revived.
- Oblivious to Love: Despite having female companions and some of them somehow have romance feeling to him (e.g. Serena). Ash constantly reacts to such feeling with his obliviousness.
- Spiky Hair: Ash has spiky hair.
- Has Rivals: Throughout his journey, Ash has many rivals. One of his notable rivals is Gary Oak.
- Is a Primary-Color Champion: Ash wears a red cap and most of his outfit is blue. He also consistently has some yellow on his jacket as well.
- Is a Challenge Seeker: Ash has no issue with competing against more experienced Trainers despite his disadvantages.
- Is a Kid Hero: Ash is 10 years old.
